Exercise Stress Echo

An exercise stress echo is when ultra sound imaging is taken before and after an exercise stress test.

Exercise Stress Echocardiography

Typically during an exercise stress echo:
1. A technician will attach patches to your chest which monitor your heart rate.
2. While lying on your left hand side, the sonographer will perform an initial EKG and echocardiogram
3. You will then exercise on a treadmill or bicycle, starting slow and gradually increasing intensity. Typically the exercise time will be 10 to 15 minutes.
4. After this time, you’ll stop exercising and return to the exam table for a repeat echocardiogram.
